Quality is monitored and assessed using the Digiroad Quality Model. The model describes the Digiroad production process and specifies the numerical quality criteria set for each Digiroad data object. In addition, the model provides instructions on the assessment and reporting of quality.

The quality of Digiroad is compared to the main source data (reference data) of Digiroad: transfer files received from the NLS Topographic Database, the road register of the Finnish Transport Agency, and the Geographic Information System.

The reported quality indicates the number of errors in Digiroad when compared to the NLS Topographic Database and the road register. The quality assessment process and the quality indicators used are based on the JHS 160 public administration recommendation.
