The first Digiroad data publication of 2012 is released on January the 15th. Here is some information about the changes made since the last release.
The geometry and address data obtained from the National Land Survey of Finland contains the changes made to the data by the 8th of September 2011. NFS has applied the new two meter elevation model in some parts of Finland. Because of this, the accuracy of height information of road elements is higher in the areas where the new elevation model has been applied.
Data users, that use Digiroad R update or XML update data: The applying of the previously mentioned elevation model affects the sizes of the update delivery formats. When the geometry of a road element is changed in an area where the new elevation model has been applied all other road elements in that particular area will also be marked as changed in Digiroad, even though they haven’t necessarily changed. This leads to varying sizes of the update delivery format in future releases, depending on geometry changes and wider applying of the new elevation model.
Data updates have been received from the GIS-system of The Finnish Transport Agency. The updates include maximum allowed height for a vehicle, maximum total weight allowed for a articulated vehicle, maximum weight per axle allowed for a vehicle, maximum total weight allowed for a vehicle and maximum weight per tandem-axle allowed for a vehicle according to the situation on the 13th of October 2011, public transport stops according to the situation in the 18th of May 2011 and road address according to the situation in the 5th of May 2011.
The Helsinki Region Transport stops have been updated to the situation on the 28th of November 2011.
During this maintenance period data has been updated for 25 municipalities (Hyvinkää, Iisalmi, Joensuu, Juankoski, Kangasniemi, Kitee, Kristiinankaupunki, Lahti, Liperi, Maaninka, Mikkeli, Muurame, Närpiö, Orimattila, Orivesi, Pieksämäki, Polvijärvi, Rautavaara, Rovaniemi, Savonlinna, Siilinjärvi, Somero, Sonkajärvi, Tohmajärvi and Varkaus). Several municipalities have also sent feedback e.g. about new streets and the information has been passed on to the National Land Survey.
User feedback has been received about e.g. hight information, topology, road addresses and street names and address numbers. These errors in the previous data release have been corrected and passed on to the primary sources responsible for providing the data (e.g. the National Land Survey).
Other updates and quality checks
Based on the Digiroad service and publication schedule, the regular quality checks and corrections have been made. Checks and corrections have also been made concerning topology. Results from testing the quality of some of the data object are published as a Digiroad Quality Report in Digiroad websites.
Digiroad documents like the Description of data objects as well as other documents (some only in Finnish and in Swedish) are on the data DVD. The most up-to-date documents can also be uploaded from Digiroad –websites http://www.digiroad.fi/en_GB/ > Digiroad documents.
